Voltify develops battery-powered locomotives that charge autonomously through a microgrid network. This role focuses on electrical system design and architecture for battery electric locomotives.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate on battery electric locomotive electrical system design and architecture
• Work with production teams to optimize designs for manufacturing
• Develop schematics and PCB layouts for control systems
• Design wire harnesses and cable routing for industrial applications
• Implement communication protocols including CAN Bus, Ethernet, and ModBus
• Design controllers for harsh locomotive environments
• Conduct electrical testing and develop automated test procedures
• Integrate embedded systems with mechanical and software teams
• Apply EMC mitigation strategies for high-voltage DC systems
• Support embedded software integration with Linux configurations
• Ensure safety compliance in high-voltage environments (up to 1500V+)

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years in electrical/electronic system design (automotive, marine, industrial, or rail preferred)
• Hands-on experience with high-voltage DC systems (1500V+)
• Proficiency with KiCAD schematic capture and PCB layout tools
• Knowledge of CAN Bus, Ethernet, ModBus, I2C, and SPI protocols
• Experience with STM32 embedded systems and controller integration
• Familiarity with harsh environment design techniques
• Basic Linux experience
• Wire harness design knowledge
• EMC/EMI mitigation expertise

Preferred Qualifications

• Safety-critical system design experience (ISO 26262, EN 50126/8/9)
• Battery electric vehicle or BMS systems background
• EN 50155 compliance experience
• Rail/locomotive industry familiarity
